With school not in session, SFCM professors are busy on the performance stage.

Guitar faculty Meng Su debuted with the China National Center for the Performing Arts Orchestra (NCPA) for two performances in July.

“It was a joy and honor to make my debut with the China NCPA Orchestra,” Su said. Her performances July 6 and 7 were part of the orchestra’s season theme of The Created Universe. “When I stepped onto the sold-out, 1,800-seat concert hall of the NCPA and was met with a wave of applause, I felt overwhelmed—in the best possible way,” Meng said. “It was one of those rare moments when music, space, and human connection come together so completely. I’ll never forget that feeling.”

Su joined SFCM’s guitar faculty in 2020. SFCM’s guitar program honors the historic tradition of classical guitar while cultivating innovation. In addition to her teaching schedule Su can often be found performing across the globe.

“I'm deeply grateful for this experience, and I look forward to bringing that same spirit of shared discovery and joy into my work with students at SFCM,” Su said.
