SFCM's Grammy Prospects

January 28, 2015 by Alexandra Gilliam

A Far Cry, the Boston-based string orchestra that counts Megumi Stohs Lewis '04 among its 17 members, received a Grammy Award nomination for Best Classical Chamber Music/Small Ensemble Performance for its CD Dreams and Prayers. Stohs Lewis and fellow alumna Margaret Dyer '05 helped found the group seven years ago. Two nominees for Best Musical Theater Album also showcase SFCM talent: the San Francisco Symphony's West Side Story with Michael Tilson Thomas features more than three dozen faculty, staff and alumni, and Walt Disney Records' Aladdin spotlights former Pre-College student Adam Jacobs in the lead role. The Chicago Symphony Orchestra's recording of music by faculty composer Mason Bates received a nomination for Best Engineered Album, Classical.
