San Francisco Conservatory of Music Launches BluePrint, a Bay Area New Music FestivalSAN FRANCISCO, CA October 18, 2003 San Francisco Conservatory of Music launches BluePrint, a new music festival. The six-month long festival features world premieres of works by composers from around the world, including, Canada, China, England, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Poland, Scandinavia and South Korea, and celebrates some of the Bay Area’s most exciting artists.
Nicole Paiement, Artistic Director of BluePrint says "The Bay Area thrives on pushing cultural and artistic boundaries; with BluePrint we are bringing together the City’s and world’s most talented artists. We will create, perform and explore - ‘mix-up and shake-up’ – new music all over the City over the next six months."
Colin Murdoch, President of the Conservatory comments, "I am thrilled that the Conservatory will present such an exciting festival; our students and faculty will be joined by some of the world’s most respected artists and scholars in a city-wide celebration of new music.
Founded in 1917, the San Francisco Conservatory of Music offers music programs to graduate and undergraduate students, preparatory and adult extension classes and community enrichment programs. The Conservatory presents over 360 public performances a year, reflecting the world-class talent of students, faculty, alumni and visiting artists. The Conservatory will be relocating to the expanded and refurbished Oak Street facilities in 2005, providing students, faculty and the Bay Area community with access to premiere musical resources in the heart of downtown.
