San Francisco Conservatory Of Music Names New Members Of Board Of Trustees
SAN FRANCISCO, July 1, 2005 : Jacqueline Hoefer and Nancy Probst have been elected to the Board of Trustees of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.
Mrs. Hoefer is a writer and a long-term supporter of the music community. She has published poetry and critical essays and her latest book is A More Abundant Life, New Deal Artists and Public Art in New Mexico. Mrs. Hoefer received a Ph.D. in American literature from Washington University, St. Louis, Missouri, and in the early 1960s taught at the University of California, Berkeley, and at San Francisco State University. In 1967, she joined her husband Peter Hoefer in starting Hoefer Scientific Instruments, a San Francisco company specializing in producing instruments for biological research. After Peter Hoefer’s death in 1987, she carried on as chief executive officer. Mrs. Hoefer has served on the boards of the San Francisco Symphony, Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, San Francisco Classical Voice and Friends of Chamber Music.
Nancy Probst is a civic volunteer deeply involved with the V Foundation for Cancer Research, a charitable organization dedicated to saving lives by helping to find a cure for cancer. She is also a current active member and former Auction Gala Chair of a fundraising organization supporting the Family Service Agency of San Mateo County, as well as a previous active member and President of a fundraising organization supporting the Mental Health Association of San Mateo County. Mrs. Probst is a volunteer for the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and chaired the Conservatory’s 2005 Fanfare Luncheon, which is held annually to recognize donors of $1,000 and above.

"Their dedication to music education and their past efforts to support the Conservatory show a strong commitment to this institution. We are lucky to have them as we prepare for the move to Civic Center next year."
