How to Enroll in the Pre-College Division
All application and enrollment in the Pre-College Division is done through our online system. We no longer accept or generate paper applications. Our online system will be available for Fall 2014 beginning April 1, 2014 for new students.

EARLY CHILDHOOD CLASSES – To enroll your child in Dalcroze Eurhythmics or First Steps at the Keyboard, search for Pre-College classes and select Early Childhood in the department list. Select the appropriate class at the time you prefer. Follow the prompts to add the class to your cart and pay at checkout.
PRIVATE INSTRUCTION – Acceptance into the lesson program is based on an audition and applicants should be prepared to play two contrasting pieces demonstrating their current level of proficiency. An audition will be arranged only upon registration for the audition course, which requires a one-time application fee payment of $50. Before applying, visit the Pre-College webpage at www.sfcm.edu and refer to the faculty listings for teacher information, so you can indicate your choice on the application. To request an audition, search for Pre-College Admissions courses, add the Pre-Coll. Private Lesson Audition course to your cart, answer the required questions and pay at checkout.** The office will contact you to schedule your audition. Auditions for fall 2014 take place on May 18, 2014.
ENSEMBLES – An audition is required for all ensembles each year. To request one, search for Pre-College Admissions courses, add the Pre-Coll. Please note that strong preference for placement in any ensemble is given to students enrolled in private lessons in the Pre-College Division.
MUSICIANSHIP CLASSES- A placement exam is required before enrolling in musicianship classes. To request a placement exam, search for Pre-College Admissions courses, add the Pre-Coll. Musicianship Interview course to your cart and pay at checkout.** The office will contact you to schedule your exam. Placement exams for fall 2014 take place on May 18, 2014.
** If you choose more than one audition or exam, please add all selections to the cart before paying. You will only be charged one application fee. Be sure to read all waivers, policies and the information and schedule on the receipt.
Tuition and Fees
The Conservatory strives to keep tuition affordable. The following proposed tuition and fees for 2014/2015 are listed and charged per semester, but students must commit to classes and private lessons for the entire academic year. Payment must be made at the time of online registration. If unable to pay tuition in full, families may choose our installment payment plan for a modest fee. An application fee of $50 is charged for all new students. A registration fee of $25 is charged for each semester that a student is enrolled.
Scholarship awards are assigned during the summer for the next academic year. Applications are available in the Pre-College Division office or you may download one below. The deadline for scholarship applications is June 1, each year. Limited awards may be offered after the deadline depending upon availability. A $50 refundable, one-time library deposit is required of all new students. This fee does not apply to Early Childhood students, who are not eligible for library privileges.Make-Up Policy
The Pre-College Division does not provide make-ups for missed classes or lessons. If instructors cancel a class or lesson, a make-up session will be scheduled.
Lessons: Intention to withdraw must be submitted in writing. If notice is received on or before September 12, 2014 (for fall semester) or January 27, 2015 (for spring semester), 50% of the tuition amount will be refunded less the non-refundable application and registration fees. No refunds will be made after these dates.Classes: Students who submit notice in writing before the second class meeting will receive a 50% tuition refund less the nonrefundable application and registration fees.
