What’s going on here? The San Francisco Conservatory of Music claims students such as Tian Yang Liu, International Society of Bassists first prize winner. Its faculty numbers artists like Scott Sandmeier, the Conservatory Orchestra’s new music director and a sought-after conductor in Europe. Visitors include the likes of opera’s groundbreaking stage director Kevin Newbury and celebrated violinist Jorja Fleezanis. And the school boasts alumni like Krista Bennion Feeney (’81), concertmaster of Lincoln Center's Mostly Mozart Festival Orchestra and the Orchestra of St. Luke's.

A musical community of phenomenal students, gifted faculty, renowned guests and accomplished alumni all come together this season at the Conservatory to explore and discover, to perfect and perform. This is the place where they get closer to the music. And so can you.

With 500 performances a year featuring a prodigious variety of genres and ensembles, the Conservatory hosts one of the most diverse concert series in the Bay Area. We also offer master classes, artist receptions and faculty recitals. At every one of these events, young musicians take another step forward in their professional development under the guidance of inspiring teachers. You can be part of their journey.

We welcome you to a seat in one of our nationally recognized concert halls. Whether it's for baroque opera, chamber music, an ensemble of guitars and percussion or a composer's world premiere, come to the Conservatory and get closer to the music.
