Tuba

Peter Wahrhaftig is principal tuba of the San Francisco Ballet Orchestra and the Sun Valley Summer Symphony and is a member of the Bay Brass. He performs frequently with the San Francisco Symphony, the San Francisco Opera, the San Francisco Contemporary Music Players and other Bay Area ensembles. He studied with Arnold Jacobs at Northwestern University, where he earned a B.M., as well as with Floyd Cooley. He has performed with many other groups including the Israel Philharmonic, Chicago Symphony, St. Louis Symphony, Ringling Brothers-Barnum and Bailey Circus, Spoleto Festival Orchestra and Metallica. Additionally, he has appeared on many recordings and movie soundtracks. When not behind his tuba, Wahrhaftig enjoys exploring the ample offerings of Bay Area hiking trails.
