Mark Lawrence
Tenor Trombone; Chair, Brass Department
Principal trombone with the San Francisco Symphony from 1974 until 2007, Mark Lawrence was previously principal trombone with the Denver Symphony and a member of the Empire Brass Quintet. A graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music, he is currently active as a soloist and a clinician and has been featured at the International Trombone Conference and International Brass Conference. He has also given master classes throughout the world. He is a founding member of Summit Brass and performs regularly with Bay Brass. He has been on the faculties of Boston University, Northwestern University, the Tanglewood Institute, the Rafael Mendez Brass Institute and the Music Academy of the West. Mr. Lawrence’s lengthy discography includes three solo CDs as well as recordings with the San Francisco Symphony, Summit Brass, Empire Brass, Center City Brass Quintet and Four of a Kind. He recently formed MarcoPaulo Publications, a publishing company that specializes in music for trombone. Mr. Lawrence's Web site address is www.marktrombone.com.
