John Engelkes has been a member of the San Francisco Symphony since 1981 and a Conservatory faculty member since 1985. Mr. Engelkes has also been a member of the Florida Symphony Orchestra, Baltimore Symphony Orchestra and acting bass trombone with the Minnesota Orchestra. Mr. Engelkes participated in the Grand Teton Music Festival from 1983-1986 and again in 2004. Mr. Engelkes has given numerous master classes and clinics throughout Asia, Europe and the United States. He has been a featured artist at the International Brass Conference. Mr. Engelkes is also a founding member of the Bay Brass. He studied trombone with Jon Hansen, Frank Crissafulli, Don Yaxley and Edward Kleinhammer. Mr. Engelkes has a B.M. from the University of Northern Iowa and attended Northwestern University School of Music graduate school. Mr. Engelkes is an avid golfer in his spare time.
