Founded in 1917, the San Francisco Conservatory of Music is the oldest conservatory on the West Coast of the United States. Located in the heart of San Francisco's arts nexus, the Conservatory is a diverse and vibrant community of 390 students. Our students receive an intensive, personalized education, studying with some of the world's finest professional musicians. Our small size affords students a wealth of performance opportunities, from ensembles and recitals to more spontaneous collaborations with faculty and peers, both inside and outside the Conservatory's walls.

The Conservatory thrives on innovation. We combine a longstanding tradition of musical education with a zeal for new ideas. We reside in a city known for being on the cutting edge in everything from the arts to technology, and we encourage each student to forge an individual style.

Finally, the Conservatory possesses outstanding resources that inspire students to achieve their best. With a world-class faculty, visits from acclaimed guest artists and a beautiful new facility, the Conservatory is a singularly exciting place for students to to develop a personal artistic voice.
